World Post 1
Michael Parsa
My biggest passion is to travel; my ultimate fulfilling goal is to travel to every country in the world. However, sometimes I worry that landmarks and places I want to see will not be there anymore because of pollution or climate change. For example, Venice, Italy is already flooding and some parts of the city are underwater. It is examples as such that has me wishing that this planet takes control of what we use and how we use it. We are so busy with our everyday duties that we forget how much of an impact we have on this world. Driving to work releases fumes into our environment, polluting and spilling oil into our oceans ruins our coral reefs and hurts or kills animals. When we do not recycle, tress is killed, we are using up energy, and landfills are reaching capacity. There are so many steps we can take to help save our planet, but in some countries, they are excluded from that type of knowledge or education.
Despite preparing myself to become an expert in the real estate development industry for after graduation, I always wished I would be able to combine my passions for travel and advocacy and travel the world educating countries on what we can do to save our planet. Many countries do not have the same kind of access to the type of education and knowledge we receive. Therefore, my goal would to be to travel to these countries around the world and teach them and figure out ways on what we can do to protect our planet. If we are able to educate other parts of the world, it will allow them access to clean water and food and have better living and health conditions; those are the bare necessities in order to survive. Change is slow and the firs steps to any change is education, and therefore this is how I believe we can slowly start cleaning our planet to become a better place to live.
I also agree that we need to start educating other parts of the world about the environment. I think educating them will open their eyes to the negative impact some everyday practices like driving make on the environment. I think the ideas you have already are great. I think a couple other potential ideas could be creating a blog educating others on simple ways to help the planet or documenting the little changes you help make on a country to show how impactful it can be.
ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is an extremely important issue that needs to be addressed. When it comes to our environment, there is not a better solution than educating people on how their day to day practices can really make a sizable difference. Founding an organization that focuses on environmental education is the next step in fortifying your vision.
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteI feel like before looking at other countries, there is a desperate need to control corporate greed here, in the United States. It is due to corporate greed that companies are able to lobby governments and continue their unsustainable and unethical business practices.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteThe environment is so precious and beautiful; it is extremely important to care for it. I love how now we are seeing ocean clean ups and greener vehicles becoming a reality, but the organizations who lobby for those things and push innovation in that direction are the crucial players. Educating people about ways to reduce wastefulness and being eco-friendlier will certainly help create a greener planet. Forming an organization based on educating people is a great step in that direction.
